There are two kinds of silk, wild silk and cultivated silk. Wild silk comes from silk worms that spin their cocoons out in the wild. These silk worms eat all kinds of leaves and that means that their silk can vary in quality. Cultivated silk comes from silk worms in captivity, they are only fed mulberry leaves.
This silk is of much higher quality and has an even texture. This 100% cultivated silk takes dye beautifully. It offers exceptionally drape, strength and luster as well as natural temperature regulation properties. Spin it up all on its own for a luxurious knitting yarn or blend it with others fibers to add shine and strength to your yarn.
I use natural light when taking my product shots to obtain the best color representation. Please note that not all computer monitors were created equal and that colors may vary.
